The iPod has helped to bring music back into my life in a really meaningful way.
Amen. QFT.
The iPod not only got me to start listening to all my old music again, but actually got me to start buying music again (both new and old). I used to buy 2-3 CDs/month and now I'm almost back to that peak level...

and waste data? i dont know...how useful is this...really?
You'd be able to update over Wifi too, of course.
others may find it useful, but why would one need to update on the go?
If you are away from your Mac that you sync with for an extended period of time.
I can't wait for this. Call me lazy, but I'm two small updates behind because I can't be bothered to sync my iPhone for fixes that don't affect me.
I'm hoping for wireless syncing with iTunes as well. The less I have to connect via a cable, the better.
what, you must never be at home and you must never sleep? you are an amazing human, humanoid???...jk...really people, for such a complex, albeit small package, a wired backup and update is just apple's way of ensuring quality. that being said, hurry up and bring on wireless syncing-what's the hold up!

IMHO, this isn't an issue of Wal-Mart feeling 'threatened" at this point. Rather, it's one of many early indicators you're going to see of digital movie distribution overtaking/eclipsing physical DVD movie sales.
The future is online movie distribution. People think devices like Tivo are "groundbreaking" because they give TV viewers a new level of control over when and what they want to watch. But ultimately, these devices are little more than work-arounds for an outmoded delivery system. (It makes little sense to pipe 100 channels of streaming content, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to every subscriber - forcing them to do the work on their end of sifting through it to watch the segments they're personally interested in.) By the same token, this outdated system helps drive physical DVD sales - because again, consumers feel like the only way they ultimately have control over the ability to watch and re-watch a specific, favorite movie of theirs is to buy a copy of the thing and keep it on their shelf!
When you look at the "big picture" - the only reason stores like Wal-Mart are still so successful in *both* music and movie sales is because digital distribution still hasn't matured enough yet. (EG. It requires a computer, a fast Internet connection, AND a lot of knowledge.) John Q. Public knows he can buy a DVD movie at Wal-Mart, throw it in his $30 DVD player he probably also bought at Wal-Mart a while ago, and watch the movie. No monthly broadband Inet bills or computer knowledge necessary.
But this can and will change. Cable companies and other broadband Inet providers are looking at the future. It's only a matter of time before they leverage the "set top converter boxes" to deliver all of this to people with no more knowledge required than ability to work a remote control and read the prompts on the TV screen.
Apple is simply an "early adopter" of things to come, and THAT is what should scare Wal-Mart.
How could Wal Mart feel threatened by anything.
They are more powerful than most countries.
the ITMS has been kickin in full swing for years now, and Wal Mart still leads in CD sales, and music distribution by a long shot.
I hope this goes really public and gets exposed through the media, so everyone knows what WM is trying to do.
I would have loved to hear the phone call between Jobs and Lee.

I surely hope so, comics and manga would be a huge hit especially in Japan.I agree that comics etc would be big.
However - I'm also interested in the electronic Ink technologies that are easy on the eyes and require almost no battery. I doubt Apple would make such a simple device, but who knows.
It would be very interesting to read Lord of the Rings and have the soundtrack playing - synchronised to where you're up to in the book. Or the book with excerpts from the movie.

lol... Comments are priceless:
I still can't believe this! All this hype for something so ridiculous! Who cares about an MP3 player? I want something new! I want them to think differently!

I think its fantastic, I like how it looks, I love the cover flow, and the ability to get the covers, and it gets the whole album, not just the one song. The movies/videos Ive got in my library now play flawlessly.
I love it, now all i need is a new iPod, If the iPod photo as it was called. I presume I cant play games on that one?
Edit. Just connected my iPod to my iMac, I love the new screen that itunes comes up with showing your iPod.

I highly doubt 4.4 will be a CMDA only version. If you think about it, the 4.3.1 update hits currently i'm guessing around 90% of iPhone 4. So obviously there is more rush to get 90% of iPhone 4s updated compared to 5%.
I would think Apple prefer to keep their GSM model supported more. Because of the hugely larger user base.

While the actual recall site, https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/ (which is linked from the FAQ site) quotes:

I expect the dust will settle, eventually.
This is the one that worked for me.

Why are you guys all against 3D? I think its great, BUT I think its a given that you will be able to turn off the 3D.. And if that is the case then there is no problem really :P

I don't know if I should give this a postive or negative. Either way, I hate Microsoft.
It is good news, at 400 buckeroos people will go "Wa!!" and look at the price tag of a Mac Mini, figuring Macs are not so expensive after all.

You know, I hate to say this, but it has a striking resemblance to the "Vista" font. Granted, "vista" is more narrow. Scary, huh?
This could be more of the same shrewd move they did with the Leopard menu bar, I know it's nasty but Apple are trying to get more PC users to switch and offering them something they are familiar with would help the transition

Anyone knows if the mac pro allows us to upgrade to PCI graphics cards bought from retail stores? Will there be any driver issues? Do graphics card vendors include Mac drivers on their installation disc? Never seen one that does though..

THe armour lock down now thats crap.
Just like you said about the Jet Pack, the Armor Lock can be really great, but you have to use it correctly. If you are all by yourself, trying to use it in a 1v1 encounter, then no, you aren't using it correctly. Using it as a distraction while teammates flank people gawking at you, using its EMP effect to disable vehicles, or using it to survive heavy weapon fire? That is correct.

Or only has one eye ;)
Thanks for getting it. :) No, I have 2 eyes but I have an eye condition known as Duane's syndrome. My eyes aren't perfectly aligned with each other so my brain doesn't process both images together as a 3D image. Basically my brain only processes the image out of one eye at a time (usually my right eye unless I tell it otherwise)

Then, technically you are using his setup pics without his permission.
The least you should do is put the original poster's name as credit.
Either you're joking.
Or you're the most tight person I've encountered.
